How To Backup Mikrotik Router Configuration

Create a backup file.

First, open the web interface of your MikroTik device by entering http://<ip_address>:8080 into your browser. You should see the MikroTik login screen. If not, click here to access the login page. Once logged in, click on the "Backup" tab at the top of the page. Click on the "Create Backup File" button. A new window will appear with a text box where you can enter a name for the backup file. Enter a name for the backup and click OK.


Download the latest version of the MikroTik Configurator.

Next, download the latest version of the Configurator app from the MikroTik website. Open the downloaded.zip archive and extract the contents to a folder on your computer. Navigate to the extracted files using Windows Explorer (or Finder on Mac) and double-click on the mikrotikconfig.exe file to run it. This will start the application. Click on the "Backup Settings" button. Select the "Save as..." option and save the settings to a location on your computer.


Run the program.

Now open the saved backup file by double clicking on it. You should see the following screen.
